Photo taking and advice (18/11/2013)

* Remembering that many of my previous whole body photos weren't correct last week, I decided to take new photos this week. Some examples include the following.

* I then also decided to retake photos of my hands so as to keep the same quality for all the pieces.

* Today we were also shown a number of techniques we could use on Photoshop that included...

  • Use layers within layers to mask your work/art! Thus you can add more detail and make less mistakes as you only focus on the outlined character, thus not going out of the lines and leaking into the background. I should try this myself in order to add further detail to my characters. For example, cover my face in the picture red, then add masking to colour within the red. If I did this previous technique then I could take a character design or anything else and paint over it more effectively. Thus I could mess around with colours and designs more easily.
  • We could use the art techniques shown today if we wished to create stylished versions of ourselves just like I plan to do. To do so use photos as reference and then draw over them the new style.

* Looking over my character concepts, my lecturer complained that he thought they were too generic/ didn't show enough of me in them. I had to disagree completely with him however, as I never intended to capture my face in them and included many aspects of myself including my trademark waist coat, steam punk goggles, drill necklace, goatee, hair and sometimes flat cap.

He also recommended that I look at how video games based on anime shows do their 3D faces, as my chosen character will need eyes and a mouth that matches this style, thus it will be different to a normal person's 3D face.

* My lecturer also feels as if my head still isn't correct and that the online tutorial I used is wrong. So I'll have to start again.
